Meet
Mira Mee

My name is Mira Mee, and I love reading, and I love writing.

I would love to tell you that I have a favourite type of book - but I don't - I read (and write) a lot of different types of stories. I love stories that are funny, sad, gross, silly, scary, and everything in between.

I grew up on a farm in Southland, New Zealand. It was a magical place of big skies, bigger mountains, and lots of animals and colourful characters.

For me it was full of stories. My horse and I had all kinds of amazing adventures in my imagination. Sometimes we were riding "to Narnia and the north", sometimes we were searching for Taniwha, sometimes I was a rebel escaping bandits, or on a mythical quest searching for wondrous things. I have been making up, and writing stories for as long as I can remember.

At the moment I am living in Australia, and I have my very own snotgoblin (child) who is growing up way too fast (but who still loves Snotgoblins and reading).

I love stories. I think storytelling - and reading - is the best and most important gift you can give yourself. Stories help us understand ourselves and each other - and help us explore and make sense of the strange and wonderful business of being alive. They can also make us laugh (and cry) and explore places and times we have never seen - like a magical time-machine you can hold in your hands.

As for my stories - some are silly and gloriously disgusting and others are quieter and more gentle. I like to explore things like friendship, courage, imagination, nature, big feelings and quiet moments. Whatever I write thought - my aim is always the same - to help everyone discover how wonderful and how much fun, reading can be.

I also enjoy learning and I have a Bachelor of Science (and got to do research on one of New Zealand's remote islands - it was so cool!) and a masters degree in Counselling as well as lots of diplomas and things in stuff like screenwriting, drama and communications.
